Standing in The Way of You and Your Dream Life
When it comes down to it, the difference between where you are now and where you want to be lies within three core attributes. Whether we want to accept it or not, none of them are circumstantial either. Truth be told, all of them lie within our own minds and with all of them we have the ability to shape and mould any way we choose.
Let’s break it down.
1. Our Beliefs
Throughout life we have these moments where, for some reason or another, we decide we are not x, y, z and as a result we create limiting beliefs about ourselves.
Usually these beliefs are along the lines of, “I am not good enough” “not smart enough” “pretty enough” or “I am too young” “too old” “too uneducated” “not worthy” “not deserving of success” or “Other people have it easier than me.”
The thing about these beliefs is that they are not REAL and the sooner we realise that the sooner life starts to look pretty freaking awesome.
2. Our Fears
Fear is false evidence appearing real. Read that again. FALSE evidence appearing real.
As human beings we only have three genuine fears - loud noises, falling and abandonment. The rest are 100% made up in our heads. Crazy, right?
The types of things we usually fear are things like messing up and doing things wrong, being an outcast, being unloved, laughed at, rejected, alone or misunderstood. They show up when we hold ourselves back from what we want because we think our friends and family won’t ‘get it’ or won’t approve.
Fear is often the reason people only give radical ideas 10% of their effort. It’s an internal defence mechanism. We only give 10% because deep down we’re afraid. As a result we fail, which just solidifies all those initial fears and prevents us from going after our ideas in future. Here’s the thing though - there’s no such thing as failure, only feedback.
3. Our Thought Patterns
Our conscious and subconscious minds run thought patterns on programs that we created between the ages of 0-7 from our environment and the people around us. As we grow older, if we do not interrupt these thought patterns with new beliefs and actions that are positive and empowering, then we are likely to stay stuck living life the same way and never really create what we want or reach our full potential.
Thought patterns are often based on our habits, values, attitudes, memories, language, and decisions - negative or positive. When we dive deep on our thought patterns we often find that most people are living according to old patterning and programs instead of grabbing the learnings and the lessons and making genuine changes.

So now that we know these things, how do we combat them? How do we stop them from dictating our lives? It all starts with reprogramming your belief system and your conscious and subconscious mind. How do I know all of this? Well, I was once the Queen of Complaining.
Rewind a few years and Grace Cater of the past was a very different character to Grace Cater now. I used to be super unconscious and unaware of my belief system, my fears and my thought patterns. To me, everything and everyone was against me.
My signature move was, “throwing my toys out the cot” as one of my ex boyfriends would like to say when things didn’t go the way I expected them to. I lived life expecting people to be mind-readers and then having a tanty when they weren’t. I wanted everyone around me to show up at their best when I most certainly wasn’t. I thought that if other people around me just acted the way I wanted them to then my life would be much better.
It wasn’t until I had hit rock bottom and was nursing my broken heart back to health, grieving a lot of loss, and dealing with these not-so-nice beliefs and thought patterns that I realised that I needed to be the one who showed up being the better version of me. To do that, I firstly needed to create more positive and empowering beliefs, and to let go of a lot of fears.
I had to let go of the fear of being alone and unloved, because they weren’t true at all. I was NEVER alone and I was ALWAYS loved - I just didn't see it. I had to reprogram all of my thought patterns by creating solid habits and a solid belief system.
Once I got this is all in check, the life of my dreams was at my doorstep. My health dramatically improved. I could now sleep 8-10 hours a night (before this I had severe insomnia). My relationships took a massive turn for the better. I moved and began living right beside the beach in a holiday destination. My career is absolutely thriving. Money is no longer a worry for me. Best of all, my history of repeating old relationships is long gone.
So here it is. The difference between where you are now and where you want to be, begins with YOU. It begins with taking a step, making a goal, and putting your heart and soul into every action along the way.
